About: Karamoja is a remote region in northeastern Uganda. It comprises about 1/6 of the land mass of the country and is a semiarid region bordering South Sudan. There are about 1.2 million Karamajong people. In the recent past, there have been years when the rainy season has been good, but in recent years the rain has not been dependable. Karamoja is undeveloped and very primitive. There is no running water except in the few cities in the region. Most of the population lives in very remote areas. Of the areas within Uganda where Divine Care ministers, Karamoja is both the most challenging and the most exciting. The ministry first entered this area in 2010 and found extreme poverty and hopelessness. Karamoja has been challenged with both uncontrolled violence and extreme poverty. Our staff found that many Karamajong were hopeless and sincerely desired change. Many eagerly accepted the Gospel but with no effective presence of the church and the burden of extreme illiteracy many barriers to making disciples were encountered.
When: End of August and the beginning of September about 500 of DCM's staff and volunteers will join with a local organization to reach the Karamajong people with the gospel. We will be going village to village reaching about 4 different districts in Karamoja.
How you can help: Pray for the missionaries who will be going to these areas, pray for the hearts of people to be open and ready to receive the gospel, give a donation to help fund the mission, share this opportunity with your friends!
